It is rightly said that the more you know your roots, the more you realise about your identity.

This is one important lesson that we learnt while working on each episode of the morning show Udayamritham, telecast on Amrita TV, day after day, week after week. In fact, the most poignant feedback that we at Increation receive for Udayamritham, is from those who are conscious about their identity as Indians.
Right now, we have been attempting to showcase our culture and tradition through Udayamritham. But as we all know, the life of a television programme is as long as it is aired.

The enthusiasm of those who are really interested in preserving our culture and tradition for future is now making us think beyond the life of a television episode telecast.

What we have in mind is a lasting document of the same, in the format of a video magazine. We are planning to package it as a window for our future generations to know their roots, for the present generation to keep in touch with its origins and for the elders to relive their memories.

As with any new venture or any trip along paths untrekked, there had been ups and lows in Increation's attempt to document cultural heritage of India. Please realise that support and enthusiasm like what you expressed is the base on which we build our project.

This is a dream, but a big dream at that. We are planning the project in a pan-Indian scale, starting with Haridwar, considered to the seat of Indian heritage. From the banks of Ganga, reverberating with chants addressed to divine forces, to the banks of Sabarmati, genuflecting in silent prayers for the well-being of all living beings, India flows majestically. Our role is just to follow it.

The Inheritage DVD Series is one of the prestigious products from the stables of Increation Media Entertainments Pvt. Ltd.

Increation is a collective of like-minded communication professionals, who are united by their sense of responsibility and commitment to the society and culture. The new product is another manifestation of Increation Media’s attempt to root itself firmly in its cultural milieu.

We have been working in the production of travelogues on Indian heritage for the last three years. As the creators of the critically-acclaimed and immensely popular morning show Udayamritham telecast on Amrita TV, one of Malayalam’s leading satellite television, we could sense the yearning in mainstream society for quality information on our culture, especially on our temples.

Over these three years, we have been flooded with demands to provide this information in more solid format. As socially-committed artistes, we believe, we cannot shy away from the responding to this demand for long. We have to work towards addressing this issue from the archival, academic and information perspectives, which far transcends the entertainment value of a programme in public telecast. That is how; we started working on the concept of bringing out a DVD series.

The Inheritage DVD Series will have monthly editions in Malayalam, with English and Hindi versions. Each edition will be focussed on temples across this great nation of ours. The number of temples covered in every edition will vary according to the scale of the temple and legends around it. For example, an edition of Haridwar or Mookambika will be exclusive, whereas some editions will have collection of travelogues on three or four small temples. The latter ones will be linked by the common geographical or cultural terrain they share.

Every edition for the Inheritage DVD Series will retain the character of the entire programme, in the sense; it will not just be a reporting from the site. It will be a learning experience for the viewer, a virtual pilgrimage, and a treasure trove for young generations as it will touch upon the legends, myths and stories associated with these temples.

The work on each edition of Inheritage DVD Series starts with the highly-focussed research team led by anchor Mochita collecting history, legends and myth about the temple to be featured. An accomplished Classical dancer by herself, Mochita has been decorated with awards for her insightful presentation of the Udayamritham series on Amrita TV.

All these vignettes of information will lend layers of meaning to the visuals being included in edition. References and explanations about the information will be provided, either along the visual as sound track or as add-on features wherever necessary.

The individual editions will have access maps, local facilities available and all other related information that someone who is interested in going to the temple featured might require.

Quality of the product

The programme will shot using DV –CAM format. The post-production will be done with state-of-the-art Final Cut Studio. This will employ all the advanced production techniques including audio correction and mixing with Apple Logic. The end product will be brought out using MPEG2 compression method to prevent generation loss and provide an ultimate viewing experience.
